Knowledge is empowering! Many people put more thought into purchasing a new cell phone or computer than they do into their birth choices and interventions. My goal is to create a fully informed consumer, capable of sorting through the decisions surrounding labor, birth and early parenting.
Classes will include:
- Coping techniques for labor--the pros and cons of each method
- The process of labor & birth--knowledge is empowering
- Informed consent & refusal--what are your rights as a patient?
- The care of newborns--how-to's for new parents plus what is normal & what isn't
- Breastfeeding success--up-to-date information & support for working & stay-at-home moms
- Postpartum care & recovery-pampering for moms & planning for life's little changes
- Writing your birth preferences--planning the 'perfect' birth and coping when it's not!
- The hormones of labor and birth--learn how this perfect design bonds mother & baby and how our birth choices can 'turn off' the flow
- Learn what evidence-based research says about interventions & the 'domino effect'
- National statistics show 1 in 3 mothers will experience a cesarean birth- how can you significantly reduce your chances?
